Hours after Sandiganbayan cleared him of 16 counts of graft over the infamous pork barrel scam, Senator Bong Revilla said he can now "move forward to serving our nation and our people."
"After eight long years, nangibabaw nang tuluyan ang Iyong hustisya!" Revilla said in a Facebook post.
"Nakita po ng Korte na walang basehan ang mga akusasyon sa akin. Hindi ko na nga kinailangan pang depensahan ang aking sarili at magbigay ng aming ebidensya. Sa mga isinumite pa lamang ng prosekusyon ay wala silang napatunayan," he continued.
On Monday, the anti-graft court granted Revilla his demurrer to evidence and acquitted him of 16 counts of graft that were filed in connection with his PHP 224.5 million Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).
With this, Revilla has no more pending cases before the Sandiganbayan.
"I am not, and never have been involved in graft and corruption. This is the reason why I did not run; I did not hide; and did not evade the judicial system. I put my trust and my life in our Courts," the senator added.
Meanwhile, Sandiganbayan denied the demurrer to evidence of Janet Lim-Napoles, the alleged mastermind of the pork barrel scam.
The charges against Revilla’s chief of staff, lawyer Richard Cambe, had been dismissed on account of his death.
